Newtown Savings Bank Selects Jen Sheldon as Chief Operating Officer

Due to the planned retirement of the bank’s longtime SVP, Chief Information Officer, Newtown Savings Bank (“NSB”) selected S&W to manage the search and selection process for its Chief Operating Officer (“COO”), an executive level role encompassing the leadership of key technology and operations departments. Headquartered in Newtown, Connecticut, NSB is an approximately $1.8B, 167-year-old, mutually chartered community bank. The bank’s operating philosophy is to take a long-term view of success based on the belief in “The Power of Local,” which helps families to save, businesses to grow, and the communities it serves to prosper.
Following a comprehensive search for this unique leadership role, NSB selected Jennifer Sheldon to join the Bank’s Executive Committee in the newly created COO role. A native of Connecticut, Jennifer is a driven and collaborative operations professional with extensive experience in banking, financial services, and FinTech. Prior to joining NSB, Jennifer served as Vice President, Customer Service and Operations at Laurel Road, a digital banking platform for healthcare and business professionals and brand of Key Bank.
“Jen’s experience leading and building out the operational functions of variously sized financial organizations and, more importantly, her commitment to developing and supporting her teams, made her well-suited to join NSB in this important role. I have no doubt that Jen will be a key member of the Bank’s Executive team as NSB continues to support their customers, employees, and community.” said Moriah Maron, Senior Associate with S&W’s Financial Services team, who led recruiting efforts for this search.
