SVP, Chief Financial Officer

Due to an upcoming, planned retirement, Smith & Wilkinson has been retained by Salal Credit Union to manage the search and selection process for the Credit Union’s next Chief Financial Officer.

Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Salal Credit Union is a $1.2 billion, member-owned financial institution serving more than 60,000 members nationwide. Founded in 1948, Salal has built a reputation as a bold, mission driven organization committed to financial empowerment, innovation, and community impact. Known for its focus on unique and underserved markets, including home improvement, healthcare, and cannabis banking, Salal offers a full range of personal and business banking services. With a strategic plan centered on sustainable growth, digital innovation, and organizational excellence, Salal is positioned to continue serving its member base while remaining proudly independent. The credit union is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive culture and eliminating barriers to financial well-being for all its members.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a strategic partner to the CEO and Senior Governance Team, responsible not only for the financial stewardship of the organization but for actively shaping and driving enterprise strategy, profitability, and performance. This role goes beyond traditional financial oversight. The CFO plays a central role in translating Salal’s strategic priorities—including increasing core deposits, improving net interest margin (NIM), identifying profitable strategies, and driving efficiency and effectiveness—into actionable financial and operational plans. The CFO ensures financial insights are not only accurate, but actively used to inform decisions, influence behavior, and improve outcomes across all business lines. This leader operates as both a financial architect and performance driver in a complex, evolving credit union model.

Salal Credit Union offers a total rewards package including:

  • Competitive base salary in the range of $250k – $300k.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
