VP, E&S Casualty Underwriting, remote!
Our client, an early-stage specialty MGA, is hiring a Vice President of E&S Casualty Underwriting, to play a foundational role in building and launching their first program. The ideal candidate will be a rising E&S casualty underwriting leader with a strong carrier and/or MGA background with experience building and growing profitable books of business within small-account, niche E&S casualty classes, such as artisan contractors, small contractors, habitational, or similar specialty segments.
The VP will help determine the company’s initial casualty niches, establish risk-specific underwriting guidelines, pricing, limits and exclusions, assist in securing capacity, and work directly with the technology team to embed underwriting expertise into a proprietary AI-enabled underwriting platform. Over time, this individual will also build and lead the underwriting team as the platform expands into additional E&S products.
The ideal candidate will have approximately 8–15 years of E&S casualty production underwriting experience, strong wholesale broker relationships, a track record of profitable book growth, and the entrepreneurial mindset to build rather than inherit. Carrier E&S experience is strongly preferred, with MGA experience a plus.
