Municipal Credit Union Appoints New Regional Director of Retail Branches

May 2025 – Municipal Credit Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Manuel Muscat as Regional Director of Retail Branches. Mr. Muscat will lead a portion of the Credit Union’s retail network, ensuring an excellent service experience for their members.  

Mr. Muscat has more than 15 years of retail banking leadership experience and most recently served as FVP, Market Leader Director/Market Expansion for Apple Bank. Mr. Muscat is a highly skilled retail leader with extensive experience developing consultative and relationship-based sales cultures.

Municipal Credit Union has been serving the financial needs of its members since 1916. The credit union was chartered in response to the concerns of New York City Mayor John Purroy Mitchel, who wanted city employees to have a way to save at reasonable rates and access low-cost borrowing alternatives. MCU started with one branch in the Municipal Building, using handwritten ledgers. At the end of the first year, nineteen charter account holders had combined deposits of $570.

Today, MCU has 16 branches, over 630,000 members, and $4.7 billion in assets. Its corporate mission is to build lifelong, quality financial relationships with each member by providing competitive products and excellent service.
