Direct Federal selects Whitney Van Sciver as VP of Human Resources

Due to a planned retirement, S&W was retained on an opportunity to manage the search and selection process for the next Vice President of Human Resources for Direct Federal Credit Union (Direct Federal). Headquartered in Needham, Massachusetts, and founded in 1953, Direct Federal is an approximately $800MM credit union that is committed to serving their members in a progressive and innovative approach. Unlike most community financial institutions, Direct Federal does not operate retail branches besides its Needham headquarters but instead serves its members virtually through a modern suite of online and mobile solutions.

“While Whitney has big shoes to fill following the retirement of Direct Federal’s longtime VP of HR,” said Darcy Flaherty, Senior Associate with S&W’s Financial Services team, who led recruiting efforts for this search “we do not doubt that Direct Federals employees will see her level of excitement for making an impact and commitment to elevating the HR services at Direct Federal.”

At the completion of the selection process, Direct Federal selected Whitney Van Sciver as the credit union’s next head of human resources. As a Massachusetts native, Whitney is a driven and collaborative HR professional who possesses a wealth of knowledge in the Human Resources field.  Whitney comes to the credit union from Lumenpulse, a company that has seen extreme growth very similar to Direct Federal. Her initiative, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and analytical skills align well with this opportunity. Whitney will be responsible for leading the organization’s human resources strategies and functions, including employee benefits and compensation; talent acquisition and retention; employee relations and employment law compliance.
