Projects will include commercial entertainment venues, and the role will focus heavily on design and the development of architectural design concepts. There is flexibility in the level of experience for the position and the responsibility or expectations will be custom matched to the new team member to ensure the right amount of challenge, learning, and growth.

- Design/drafting within Revit to meet project delivery lifecycle, typical milestones, and their level of detail

The City Engineer has an integral role in delivering the vision of the city’s master plan from concept to implementation and therefore will leave a lasting impact on the future of this historic community. As the Division Head of the Engineering Services Division, the position will collaborate highly with other divisions of the Community Development Department (Planning, Economic Development, Code Administration, and the Concord Municipal Airport), the Department of General Services (water, sewer, highways, solid waste, etc.), the City Council and the City Manager and of course residents and businesses of the community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Employee manager and leader for the staff within the Engineering Division.
- Plans, directs, manages, and supervises major engineering projects including the design, permitting, and construction of municipal infrastructure, facilities, and capital improvement projects and programs.
- Identifies and pursues grant opportunities to support capital improvement program and projects; oversees the administration of grants and financial reporting.
- Directs the Engineering Division’s technical review of all private development permit applications (i.e. subdivision applications, site plan applications, utility connection permits, street encumbrance permits, etc.) including plans and drawings, specifications, and technical studies and reports associated therewith.
- Directs the Engineering Division’s construction oversight and inspection activities for infrastructure improvements associated with all public and private development projects.
- Supervises the development, implementation, and routine maintenance of the City’s Geographic Information System.
- Directs the city’s internal surveying team.
- Serves on a variety of interdepartmental committees; participates with other departments and division heads to assist the Department Head and City Manager with strategic leadership and planning.
- Presents in front of the City Council, City Boards and Commissions, community partners and stakeholders, as well as the general public, with a goal to educate and build community awareness and support for projects and initiatives.
- Responsible for budgeting, record-keeping, and reporting.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering or similar engineering discipline.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- General knowledge of civil engineering practices and principles for site development and design, utilities, and infrastructure including dams, traffic and transportation facilities (including a general aviation airport)
- Team leadership with a focus on collaboration, skill and career development, and the ability to foster an inclusive supportive working environment.
- The ability to communicate effectively with project partners & stakeholders, community members, regulatory agencies, and other departments within the city.
Familiarity with safety procedures, and the ability to ensure a safe working environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Annual Salary Range of $94,432 to $ $133,390.40
