MountainOne Financial, MHC, Select Edward Alfieri as SVP, Operations
May 2026 – Smith & Wilkinson was retained by MountainOne/Mechanics Cooperative, operating under the newly formed mutual holding company MountainOne Financial, MHC, to lead the search for their inaugural SVP, Operations.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the SVP, Operations role is responsible for overseeing enterprise operational activities across both organizations, including operational strategy, process improvement, systems integration, vendor management, digital banking operations, and organizational alignment. The role will also play a critical leadership position in integrating operational functions across MountainOne/Mechanics Cooperative while supporting scalability, customer experience, and operational excellence.
Smith & Wilkinson conducted a targeted search focused on senior banking operations leaders with broad operational expertise, transformation experience, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to lead through organizational change and integration efforts. Following a comprehensive and highly competitive process, Edward Alfieri was selected for the role.
Alfieri joins MountainOne/Mechanics Cooperative from HarborOne Bank, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President, Operations and Transformation. In that role, he provided executive oversight of enterprise banking operations and transformation initiatives, aligning strategy, compliance, technology, and operational processes to drive efficiency, scalability, and long-term organizational performance.
Over the course of his nearly 28-year career at HarborOne, Alfieri advanced through progressively senior leadership positions spanning branch operations, retail administration, banking administration, digital delivery, and enterprise operations. He has led large-scale operational teams, overseen deposit operations, mortgage servicing, consumer loan servicing, digital banking channels, ATM and debit card programs, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
Known for his collaborative leadership style, operational rigor, and strong analytical mindset, Alfieri has built a reputation as a highly respected and trusted leader capable of driving organizational change while maintaining a strong focus on employee engagement and customer experience. Throughout his career, he has successfully led operational improvement initiatives, implemented data-driven decision-making processes, optimized staffing and branch performance models, and partnered closely with executive leadership on strategic transformation efforts.
